The American Farmland Trust, an organization seeking to expand market competitiveness for local farmers, recently won a $99,427 federal grant to work with Oswego, New Paltz, Oneonta and the University at Albany to increase the use of fresh, frozen and processed vegetables raised by New York farmers as part of a pilot program that eventually would target all colleges and universities statewide.
At SUNY Oswego’s Media Summit, a range of topics was covered from sports branding to hyper-local markets, but the real story of the Media Summit is high school sports and the impact to the children participating.

Cub Scout Pack 809 is planning a pancake breakfast; a fundraiser for the pack. The breakfast will be held on November 10 from 8 – 11:30 a.m. at the Oswego Elks Lodge, 135 W. Fifth St. The menu will consist of pancakes, French toast, eggs, bacon, sausage, orange juice and coffee.
According to unofficial vote results from Tuesday night show trouble for four legislators. Republican Louella LeClair has come up short in her bid for a new term. And, Doug Malone, the long-time representative of Oswego Town, is also on the short end of vote. Absentee votes will likely decide Malone’s fate next week.
The historic lodge at Camp Zerbe will be repaired in 2014 and made available to the public, thanks to grants from the Shineman Foundation and the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation. Camp Zerbe, a 364-acre nature park located in the town of Williamstown, is owned by Oswego County and operated by the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau.
