Lung Association Celebrates Lung Cancer Action Week And Turns New York State Turquoise

This week, the American Lung Association is turning New York State turquoise to raise awareness of lung cancer and encourage residents to take action to end the disease. It is estimated that 14,150 New Yorkers will be diagnosed in 2023 alone and every day nationally, lung cancer takes the lives of more than 373 of our friends, neighbors and loved ones.

Dec Announces $13-Million Partnership With Adirondack Watershed Institute Of Paul Smith’s College To Support Invasive Species Prevention Efforts

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Commissioner Basil Seggos today announced a $13.24-million, five-year partnership with the Adirondack Watershed Institute (AWI) of Paul Smith’s College to administer the Adirondack Park Watercraft Inspection Steward Program (WISP). The announcement, made during Adirondack Day at the New York State Capitol, will protect the Adirondack Park’s resources from the introduction and spread of aquatic invasive species (AIS) that damage ecosystems.

Weedsport Girl Scouts Celebrate 100 Years On May 20

Weedsport Girl Scouts Service Unit 404, part of the NYPENN Pathways (GSNYPENN) Council, invites the community and anyone previously or currently affiliated with local Girl Scouting to help them celebrate the 100th anniversary of the formation of the very first local troop in 1923. On its 75th anniversary in 1998, members of the Service Unit buried a time capsule at Weedsport Free Library.
