OMS Art Students Recreate Art Classic In Unique Place

Oswego Middle School eighth graders helped create a unique ceiling painting recently. Among those that assisted are (front row) Tyler Courtney, Rana Al-Salameh, Mason McGann, Josh Bucher and Mariell Schickling. In the middle row are Alexis Sheridan, Rebecca Victory, Kaitlin Ballard and Braeden Livesey. In back are Jacob Lofthouse, Michael Favata, Collin Ballou, Austin Levine, Meghan Anderson, Lauren Wallace and Eddie Sheridan.

Oswego Middle School teacher Suzanne Fox wanted something more for the students who reside daily in her classroom. The result was nothing sort of spectacular.

Riley Art Students Gain From Mortenson Visit

Several Charles E. Riley Elementary School students were on hand to greet visitors at the river’s end book store recently as students had their artwork, relating to the Greg Mortenson visit, on display. In front are Rufus Leo, Megan Delong and Emma Delong. In back are Linwei Chen, Alexa Quesnell, Michael Harris, Miranda Gilbert and art teacher Rebecca Woods.

Recently, when award-winning author and international humanitarian Greg Mortenson visited Oswego thousands heard him speak at the SUNY Oswego Campus Center. Nearly lost in the visit were the local artistic efforts by students at the Charles E. Riley Elementary School.

Fulton, Oswego Art Students Meet Assemblyman Barclay in Albany

Assemblyman Will Barclay (R,C,I—Pulaski ), right, is pictured with  students Anthony Bennett and Heather Roberts from Fairgrieve Elementary  School in Fulton. Their works were featured in the 2010 Legislative  Student Art Exhibition held in the Capitol Building recently. Both  students traveled to Albany to meet Barclay as part of the event. The  New York State Art Teachers Association Legislative Exhibit is  co-sponsored by the New York State Alliance for the Arts in Education.  About 200 students throughout the state were represented in the  exhibit.The New York State Art Teachers Association Legislative Exhibit is co-sponsored by the New York State Alliance for the Arts in Education.
