NYS Winter Fishing Tournament Continues through February
Anglers fishing the 2017 NYS Winter Classic Fishing Tournament can visit three local businesses – All Seasons Sports and Salmon River Sports Shop in Pulaski, and App’s Bait and Tackle in Cleveland – to weigh in their catches. Considered the largest winter fishing tournament ever conducted in NY state, the NYS Winter Classic Fishing Tournament continues through the end of February.
Enter To Win Oswego County Fishing, Hunting Guide Photo Contest
Winning pictures will be featured in the new Oswego County Fishing and Hunting Guide, which is due out later this year. The contest is open to residents and non-residents, as long as the photos are taken in Oswego County. Each person can submit up to five color photos; either vertical or horizontal. Only digital photos will be accepted.
Oswego Working To Install Safety Measures Along River
On Tuesday night, city officials took the next step toward making the Oswego River a safer place for fishermen. They hope to have Brookfield Power, operator of the Varick Dam, help pay the costs of whatever solution is implemented, the mayor said.
Meeting Focuses On Fishing Safety
Several dozen fishermen participate in a meeting to find ways to make fishing in the Oswego River safer and prevent mishaps like the one last week that has claimed the lives of two anglers. Local and state authorities will now review all the information and a second public meeting is being planned to update the community.

Mayor Randolph Bateman has announced that a meeting will be held on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the EconoLodge to enable the community to discuss ways to improve fishing safety on the Oswego River.
