Warm Spring May Slow The Drip Of Syrup From Trees, But Boost Visitors To Maple Syrup Farms
The weather may be lousy for maple syrup production this year, but the tradeoff could be more New Yorkers celebrating the 15th annual Maple Weekend.
Tim Fowler, who runs Maple Hollow Farm in Hannibal with his wife Becky, says without three feet of snow on the ground and ice on the roads, more people could be going out to visit maple syrup farm open houses throughout the state.

Hannibal taxpayers praised students and denounced the teachers’ union as the district explained again why it may have to cut jobs, sports and music; raise taxes by a large amount; or both.
Several dozen students sat directly in front of the Board of Education, taking up the first five rows of the auditorium. They all wore white t-shirts that bore their new organization’s name: SOS, for “Save Our School”.
