Police: Man Took Two Hostages, Killed Them Both in Pulaski

Steen, 39, of Hastings, has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder.

Updated with details of a prior arrest for an alleged case of domestic violence in which police say he choked a person until the person blacked out.

New update: Police confirm that the woman allegedly choked by James Steen in the March incident is Victoria Steen, one of the murder victims.

Oswego County Woman’s Quilt Selected for Show Honors

Beverly Filkins’ “Historic and Modern Day Seaway Trail” quilt,  judged best depiction of “wheeling” along the Great Lakes Seaway Trail  byway shows Selkirk Lighthouse, the Seaway Trail Discovery Center, Old  Fort Niagara, the Orleans County Country Barn Quilt Trail, sportfishing  and sailing.An original hand-quilted and hand-embroidered “Historic and Modern Day Seaway Trail” design by Beverly Filkins of Pulaski was judged the quilt that best tells the story of “wheeling” along the 518-mile-long Great Lakes Seaway Trail at the byway’s annual quilt show in Sackets Harbor, NY.
