Oswego County Flu Clinics Begin on September 21

The Oswego County Health Department will hold its first seasonal flu clinic on Monday, September 21, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Nick Sterio Public Health Clinic on Bunner Street in Oswego. The next flu clinics are scheduled for Wednesday, September 30 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the H. Douglas Barclay Courthouse on Bridge Street in Pulaski; and from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Nick Sterio Public Health Clinic on Bunner Street in Oswego.

ARISE Helps Golfers With Disabilities Improve Their Game

Summer is golf season, a time when people from Central New York take to the local links to spend a few hours driving balls and sinking putts. Many golfers look for opportunities to improve their game, so it is no surprise that the rain and heat could not keep people with disabilities away from the 5th annual three-day golf clinic hosted by ARISE on August 11, 12, and 14.

Nicole Marie Spink Scholarship Awarded to Sandy Creek Student

Presenting the Nicole Marie Spink Driver Safety Scholarship are (left to right): Sandy Creek High School Principal Maureen Shiel, Alicia Green and Laura Yard, mother of Nicole Spink for whom the scholarship is named.

The scholarship was established to honor the memory of Yard’s daughter, Nicole, who was tragically killed in an automobile accident in April 2005. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide an Oswego County junior or senior with a complete course in driver education safety to learn safe driving skills.

Attorney General Cuomo’s Office Brings Smart Seniors Program To Pulaski

A representative from Attorney General Andrew Cuomo’s office will be speaking to the Springbrook Seniors on consumer fraud issues as a part of Cuomo’s statewide Smart Seniors Program. Juanita Perez Williams, Assistant Attorney General from Cuomo’s Syracuse Office, will inform participants how to best avoid consumer scams that frequently target seniors, such as sweepstakes, mail orders, and identity theft.
