Traffic Notice: Portion of State Route 481 To Close for Ongoing Nestle Demolition

A stretch of State Route 481 is scheduled to be closed to all lanes of traffic on Thursday, September 14, and Friday, September 15, between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. each day. A detour will direct traffic both north and southbound off of State Route 481 onto South First Street. Northbound traffic will divert onto South First Street at Prime Auto, the former Chevrolet dealership, and take Division Street to return to State Route 481. Southbound traffic will turn off of State Route 481 onto Division and then follow South First Street until returning to State Route 481 at Prime Auto. Local law enforcement and city officials are encouraging anyone who may have to travel this route to avoid the detour if possible or plan accordingly for possible delays.

The Port City’s winter parking policy for this winter will be the same as it was last winter. “We voted down a change to the law tonight. So the policy that we had last year still stand,” said Councilor Nate Emmons. “In terms of the exception policy, if you don’t have a driveway you can apply for a permit and be able to park one car on the street.”
