Mayor Barlow Announces FLAME THE BAND To Perform In Oswego In Sept. 15

Mayor Billy Barlow announced today another free concert will take place in Oswego as the summer season ends, following a recent announcement the Syracuse Highland Pipe Band will perform in Breitbeck Park on August 30. This time, FLAME THE BAND, will perform on Veteran’s Stage on Friday, September 15 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Jazz By The Lake Premieres This Fall With The Will Gorman Trio And Special Guest Joe Carello At The Oswego Music Hall

The Will Gorman Trio, along with special guest Joe Carello, make their debut on the Oswego Music Hall stage, Saturday, September 9. This performance is part of the Music Hall’s Jazz By The Lake series curated by David Kaspar. According to Mr. Kaspar, “This event will feel like you traveled to see a New York City organ trio ((with special guest) but in your own backyard.”

Mayor Barlow Announces Free Lighthouse Tours September 15-17

Mayor Billy Barlow announced today a partnership with the H. Lee White Maritime Museum to offer free tours of the Oswego West Pierhead Lighthouse for the third year in a row.  Lighthouse tours, offered by the H. Lee White Maritime Museum at the City of Oswego’s Wright’s Landing Marina, provide visitors with a boat ride to and from the Lighthouse, with a forty-minute tour at the lighthouse. Since 2012, an all-volunteer committee, through the maritime museum have worked to restore the interior of the lighthouse, while the City of Oswego and Assemblyman Will Barclay partnered to fund exterior renovations in 2018.

State Labor Department Releases Preliminary July 2023 Area Unemployment Rates

The New York State Department of Labor today released preliminary local area unemployment rates for July 2023. Rates are calculated using methods prescribed by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The State’s area unemployment rates rely in part on the results of the Current Population Survey, which contacts approximately 3,100 households in New York State each month. To recap last week’s statewide press release, New York State’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate held constant at 3.9% in July 2023.
