A day after Doug Hoffman came to Fulton, fellow Republican Congressional hopeful Matt Doheny did the same.Â The Alexandria Bay investment banker disputed Hoffman’s claims of a 30 point lead, based on an internal poll, and on calls he says his campaign is making to Republican voters.
A small but enthusiastic crowd was waiting for him.
“The enthusiasm for Doug Hoffman is there, and it’s grassroots, too,” said Oswego County Conservative Party chair Leonard Schick.

Oswego County Court Judge David J. Roman today announced he will run this fall for a full ten year term in the position he was recently appointed to by both Democrats and Republicans in the New York State Senate.
The Oswego County Republican Committee voted Thursday night to endorse Patty Ritchie for State Senate. The vote came at the county GOPâ€™s monthly meeting, held at the Greenview Manor restaurant in West Monroe.
A downstate political blog and a blog run by a North Country politician say the same thing: State Senator Darrel Aubertine of Cape Vincent would make a good Lieutenant Governor candidate for Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, the party’s all-but-certain candidate.
Update: Aubertine would consider the Lieutenant Governor’s position, if it was offered.
Republican committees in the cities of Fulton and Oswego this week have endorsed Matt Doheny for Congress, as a showdown looms between the Republican party’s leaders and the state Conservative Party over which candidate will have the best chance of beating Democrat Bill Owens this fall.
“Remember that Ronald Reagan switched from a Democrat to a Republican when he was 51 years of age. I beat him by a year. I’m 50,â€ said Levy.
He trying to use that frame to win over Republicans all over the state, like the Oswego County Committee Members.
