Oswego County health officials are reporting a cluster of hepatitis A cases in the county. The health department reports today, Seotember 26, that 22 cases have been confirmed since July, which is significantly more than usual.

At approximately 8:59 a.m. today (Feb. 25), Oswego City Police responded to a disabled vehicle complaint on Mitchell Street, in the area of the Oswego Industrial Park. The Oswego City Police Department has identified the victim as 68-year-old Wayne D. Merrill of Minetto.

The death of Sherri A. Parkhurst was the result of a tragic accident, police have concluded. She was struck by a driver backing out of his driveway. The man didn’t realize he had hit anyone, police said.

Oswego Police Investigating Early Morning Death
BREAKING NEWS: At approximately 12:52 a.m. today (March 14), the Oswego City Police Department responded with Oswego Fire Department’s Emergency Medical Services to Mercer Street near 10 ½ Street on the city’s eastside. They found a 44-year-old woman with what appeared to be severe head injuries. She was pronounced dead at Oswego Hospital.

On Friday afternoon police were alerted that the Boost Mobile store was apparently left unattended. Upon investigation, police discovered a teen in the back of the store who had apparently hanged himself.

Murder Charge Sent To Grand Jury
At the end of a preliminary hearing Tuesday, Fulton City Court Judge Spencer Ludington ruled that there is sufficient evidence to hold the case against Jay J. Barboni for grand jury action. Barboni is accused of causing the death of his girlfriend’s 15-month-old son Aug. 18. He remains in custody at the Oswego County Correctional Facility without bail.
