McDonald’s Celebrating Local Public Safety Officials

The McDonald’s on South 4th Street in Fulton is celebrating two events with members of the Fulton Fire Department and Fulton Police Department. On Saturday, October 14th from 11a.m.-1p.m., their friends with the Fulton Fire Department & Fulton Police Department will be set up and families will have a chance to get an up close and personal look at a fire engine in the McDonald’s parking lot. On Tuesday, October 17th from 9a.m. to 11a.m., the Fulton McDonald’s will be hosting a “Meet the Chiefs” breakfast where neighbors can meet David Eiffe, the new Fulton Fire Chief and Assistant Chief Shane Laws and learn about their plans for the future.

Cause of Fulton Structure Fire Under Investigation

Firefighters were on scene for nearly 12 hours Tuesday (September 19) as they battled a commercial structure fire in Fulton. Fulton Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 807 S. First St. within three minutes of the call received at 6:50 a.m. The scene was entirely cleared at approximately 6:30 p.m., according to FFD Assistant Chief Shane Laws.

Commercial Fire Shuts Down State Route 481 in Fulton

Crews are on scene battling a commercial fire at the Prime Auto used car dealership in Fulton at 807 South First Street. Located at the southern entrance to the city, State Route 481 has been shut down to all traffic in the area. Local police are on scene detouring vehicles off of State Route 481 at the southern entrance to the city and around the fire from the north end on Fay Street. Travelers are advised to avoid the area.

Through a donation from the Fulton SUNOCO Ethanol plant, the FFD was able to purchase a new fire fighting vent saw, rechargeable hand lights and a new set of Iron’s (axe/halligan) all to be placed on the departments newly acquired 1998 Pierce 100′ Platform ladder truck.

Fulton Fire Department Swears In New Chief, Assistant Chief, Captain

The three newest leaders of the Fulton Fire Department were officially sworn in to their new positions Thursday evening (June 29.) The ceremony came following the retirement of former fire chief Paul Foster effective the same day whose 32 years of service is included in a total of 155 years of experience retiring from the FFD within the week. Family, friends, community members, and fellow firefighters gathered together as the FFD swore in a new chief, assistant chief, and captain.

City of Fulton, Fire Department Reach Contract Agreement, Avoid Arbitration

On the brink of heading to arbitration, the city of Fulton and the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 3063 representing the Fulton Fire Department have reached a contract agreement after years of failed negotiations. After the previous contract expired at the end of 2014, city officials and union representatives failed to agree on the conditions of a new three-year contract. Yesterday, (June 15) both parties approved a contract that closely resembles the most recent contract between the city and the CSEA.

FFD Honors Former Assistant Chief Killed In Line Of Duty

It was 90 years ago today when Fulton Fire Department’s Assistant Chief, Elsworth J. Rude rushed into a burning house in attempt to save what was assumed to be sleeping members of the Dwyer family. At 63 years old, Assistant Chief Rude showed no hesitation to perform his duties although ultimately, that meant losing his life. Today, incoming Chief of the Fulton Fire Department, David Eiffe shared the story of Fulton’s own hero Elsworth Rude on the 90th anniversary of his death during a remembrance ceremony in his honor.

Increase in Fire Reports Throughout County ‘Normal’ During Winter
