The Laker men’s ice hockey team, which finished the 2009-10 season at 26-3-0 and were semifinalists at the NCAA Division III Ice Hockey Championships. Oswego State will play 15 home games during the 2010-11 regular season, including a season-opening exhibition against the Bradford Rattlers All-Stars on Oct. 16 in the Campus Center Ice Arena.

With the score knotted at 3-3, St. Norbert’s Cody Keefer scored the game-winning goal with 39.4 seconds remaining to give the third-ranked Green Knights a 4-3 win over the second-ranked Oswego State men’s ice hockey team in the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Men’s Ice Hockey Championships on Friday at Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid.

The Lakers enter with an overall record of 26-2-0, while the Green Knights come in at 23-3-3. The other semifinal contest features No. 1 Norwich (24-1-4) against No. 5 Plattsburgh (19-5-4) at 7:30 p.m.

SUNY Oswego and the Oswego State Athletic Department are pleased to announce that Saturday’s NCAA Men’s Hockey quarterfinal round contest between No. 2 nationally-ranked Oswego State (25-2-0) and No. 6 nationally-ranked Bowdoin (19-6-1) will be televised on two TV channels and over the Internet.

The Oswego State men’s ice hockey team will face Bowdoin in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Division III Men’s Hockey Tournament on Saturday, March 13 in Oswego at 7 p.m.

The Lakers displayed a balanced attack as six different players scored goals in front of a sold-out crowd. Oswego State, which earned its eighth conference title overall and first since 2002-03, improved to 25-2-0 on the season, while the Cardinals dropped to 18-5-4.

The bitter rivalry has not lessened recently as Plattsburgh swept Oswego last year in all three matches, including the SUNYAC final overtime thriller, 5-4. But the Lakers have rebounded this season, besting the Cardinals twice in the regular season, 5-2 and 3-2.
