Oswego County Opportunities is launching its “Sleep Tight” initiative with its annual “Giving Thanks” fundraiser to be held November 1 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Lake Ontario Convention, Event and Conference Center in Oswego. Proceeds from the evening will support of OCO’s “Sleep Tight” initiative.
The CNY Arts Center extends a big invitation to the many talented artists of CNY to share your talents at the HotSpot. Whether you sing, dance, act, write, juggle, etc. come to The HotSpot in downtown Fulton to share with everyone. This “open mic” event is called TalentShare and will be hosted by Ben Borenstein, a veteran to the CNY Arts Center in many facets of the theatrical arts.
Sandra Farrands has announced her candidacy for a position on the Granby Town Board. Farrands, a Licensed Associate Real Estate Broker, said if elected she will work to cut spending and hold the line on property taxes.
Two mayoral proclamations this month honored Fulton City School District’s Board of Education and district principals.The week of October 23-27 was officially declared School Board Recognition Week while the entire month of October was named Principal Recognition Month in the city of Fulton. Each proclamation ended with Mayor Ronald Woodward Sr. encouraging community residents to use this time as an opportunity to thank a school board member and a principal throughout the district for their selfless dedication to the students of Fulton.
Georgia M. Draughn, 76, of Schroeppel (Phoenix), passed away suddenly on Sunday October 22, 2017, at her home.
Barbara J. Brown, 50, of Fulton, died Tuesday October 24, 2017, in University Hospital, Syracuse, with her family by her side.
Cheryl D. Barton, 57, of Syracuse, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017, at home surrounded by her family.
Sheriff’s deputies arrested Gary A. Bubis Jr., 37, of 393 Albion Cross Road, Pulaski, on Oct. 24 at 12:29 p.m. and charged him with first-degree rape, a class B felony. The arrest stems from an investigation into an incident that occurred in the fall of 2014 at a town of Albion residence.
I received Mark Holliday’s, nee Aldasch, pamphlet the other day and noticed some lies right off the bat. He starts out saying because the City of Fulton is considered “moderately fiscally stressed” we are bankrupt. That’s a lie. The city is not bankrupt. The fact is we improved our fiscal condition last year over the previous year.
For the second time this year, taxpayers voted down this building project. This by no means stops the volunteers from responding.
