A Mexico man who served prison time for sexually abusing two children has been charged with having sex with a child. Police arrested Richard DeStevens on Thursday and charged him with a felony.
Police allege that Tommy E. Merritt, 38, had oral sex with a child over the course of three years. The conduct allegedly began when the child was 13 years old.
Darrell Peckham admitted having had sexual contact with a 14 year old boy four years ago. Peckham worked for more than a decade in the Oswego City School District as a social worker, leaving in 1992. He also was director of Cayuga County’s Big Brother program.
Fulton Police allege that Percy John Shaw, III, 34,had sexual contact with the boy sometime between last Christmas and January 12, 2010 at Shaw’s home.
Jeffrey B. Knudtson, 40, of 20 Birch Lane, Apt. A, Oswego was picked up by Oswego County Sheriff’s Deputies at about 1:00 pm Thursday.
Police had received a warrant from the Pierce County, Washington Sheriff’s Office alleging Knudtson was a fugitive from justice.
Sheriff’s Deputies on Friday arrested Walter C. Belden, 28, of 3839 Port St., Pulaski. He is charged with first degree rape, first degree criminal sexual act, sex abuse and endangering the welfare of a child. All but the endangering charge are felonies.
Police allege he had engaged in what they said were “numerous acts of sexual conduct” with a child 10 years old or younger. The incidents happened between July, 2007 and Spring, 2009, according to police.
